When the W.H.I.S.K.E.R.S (Worldwide and Heroically Intergalactic Space Kittens and associates Exploration and Research Ship) encounters a mysterious sentient-egg-looking alien, it's up to Captain Krik and his First Officer Mr Kcops to avoid becoming it's breakfast.
Starch Wreck is the animated short film I am currently producing entirely myself for my final year of study of BA Animation at University of Portsmouth. This project was inspired by my love of the sci-fi genre. Namely, the original 1960’s Star Trek and subsequent movies, with other influences being Star Trek: The Next Generation, Discovery and The Animated Series, Star Wars, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Back To The Future and Rick and Morty. I love the retro-futuristic aesthetic of older sci-fi; I’m fascinated by what the people of the past imagined the future might look like. This film is a love letter of sorts to vintage sci-fi, and an expression of my desire to see more science fiction animation being created. Below you can see the current version of my film, and further down is some development work.
Here's a showreel of work produced for the film's pre-production phase:
